Change Your Attitude - Learn to Love ExerciseBy Carolyn Hansen

You have probably read about the long-term benefits of exercise: increased energy, disease reduction, longevity, weight management, improved quality of life etc. Most of us are well aware that regular exercise is a vital and critical part of looking, feeling and staying younger and healthier over the course of our lifetime.

If you want to improve your life in every way, the greatest place to start is with exercise.

Our bodies need regular exercise; it's our natural state to be energetic and lively.

When we don't include it in our lives, we cannot function properly and we cannot feel as good as we should. Regular vigorous exercise will make us saner, happier and healthier.

How is your exercise attitude?A lot of us wonder precisely how we can motivate ourselves to exercise, just what is this special thing that is needed to get yourself out of bed or out the door and straight to your workouts? The reason that no one can answer this question is because it is different for all of us. But one thing that is known is that part of what determines whether you get to your exercise session or not is your attitude. How you look at your planned workout has a major influence on the importance and priority of it.

Making exercise enjoyable begins in your mind - If you have a positive attitude and can find ways to make your exercise program enjoyable, you will be much more likely to stick with it. It is easy to find motivation to do something you enjoy rather than making excuses or reasons why you shouldn't do it. Exercise will never seem like a chore if you are passionate about it. If you have a bad attitude about this are you willing to change it?

Let exercise help you to meet your other needs - an exercise or workout program can help satisfy your desire for social interaction, self discipline, relaxation, self-discovery, or just give you a break from the stresses of the day. Think about your non physical needs that are important in your life, and try to figure out how activity can help you to achieve them. This can make your exercise program a much more very strong experience and keep you going back for more.

Exercise - your strength and fitness - needs to be in the "first things first" category, because everything else in your life rests upon your good health. Time for fitness is always available when you put first things first in your life.

Exercise is not just something that you do - it is something that you become. Whether you like to exercise or not isn't really an option, it is a choice - a choice that is dependent on you. Nobody can do this for you - no exercise program or trainer, no pill or supplement. It comes from deep within you - it is in all of us - just reach in and find it. If there is a secret to an endless supply of motivation - there it is right there.

If you have you forgotten how good it is for your sense of well-being or have never stuck with an exercise or workout program long enough to experience it, you will soon have more energy, a better attitude and a gentler disposition. It's easier to be the kind of person you have always wanted to be. Your strength and fitness are essential to your good health, like eating right, sleeping enough; loving your family and friends and working. Exercise needs to be at the top of your list of priorities and be put first when you understand and accept just how it important it is.

It is so much easier when you don't have to force yourself to exercise - you actually want to do it. Over a period of time, small by small - health and fitness can become a passion. Make it yours.

You Can Build a Positive Attitude Towards Exercise

You Can Build a Positive Attitude Towards ExerciseBy Carolyn Hansen

Most people know that physical activity is very important yet many people choose to lead sedentary and inactive lives. And even more find it difficult to start a proper exercise program or stick with it. On the other hand, some people use exercise merely for controlling their weight and don't recognize how critical it is for achieving optimal health.

Vigorous physical activity has been proven to help you feel better and live a longer healthier life - even if you don't have excess weight to lose. Stop your mind when it tries inventing reasons, excuses, justifications or rationalizations as to why you can't get going and get active. Excuses will never really help you get anywhere in life. If you don't want to exercise, one reason (excuse) is just as good as another.

If you are one of the people that are not very active or not exercising regularly, perhaps you have some not positive thoughts of your own. Isn't it time to start building and programming your mind with more positive thoughts?

"I don't have time." It would only take 1/48th of your whole day to exercise for 30 minutes - and most people waste a lot more time than that on unproductive activities like watching TV or chit chatting on the phone! Being physically active is more important for your health and well-being than 99% of the other things you think must get done each day.

You will need to make this a priority in your life if you are ever going to reach your health and fitness goals. The key to success is giving it the priority it deserves. Fitness and health goals need planning just like you would plan for success in your career. Don't allow yourself to sit around and say you have no time - you can always get up an hour early or go to bed a bit later.

"I don't have the energy." Exercise increases your strength, stamina and endurance and helps you sleep better so you will become more beneficial and productive and efficient in everything you do. No matter how you feel initially, you are likely to feel better within just a couple of minutes of starting to exercise, and these good feelings usually last long after the exercise is finished too.

"I will start exercising when I have lost some of this weight." A proper exercise program that includes strength training exercise uses additional calories and builds your metabolism. In addition, exercise reduces food cravings and curbs your appetite by raising your endorphins ("feel good chemicals") and serotonin levels ("calm chemicals").

This reduces stress and allows you to have an easier time losing any excess body fat. Besides, if you don't exercise while you are losing weight, you will likely lose muscle tissue as well as fat or adipose tissue which will make it gradually harder to lose weight - and almost impossible to keep it of long term.

"I am so out of shape - I don't even know where to begin!" You have to start somewhere - so start where you are today! There is no such thing as instant or quick fitness. If you start this week by increasing your activity level, small by little, bit by bit three months from now you will be leaner, stronger, more energetic, and healthier.

If you choose not to get started, then don't be surprised if you are in precisely the same condition (or worse) than you are today!

What about other not positive thoughts and attitudes about that you have about exercise? Can you learn to counter them in a positive way? Develop positive statements and repeat them often to yourself, such as "being active gives me the opportunity to relieve stress and feel better. Or "I can feel myself becoming stronger, healthier more energetic and alive" or "it feels so good to move my muscles and my body."

Start thinking of yourself as an active, strong, slim, fit and healthy person - and you will become one!

Making a Profit From Your Exercise Program

Making a Profit From Your Exercise ProgramBy Carolyn Hansen

Making a profit is defined as an excess of returns over expenses from a transaction. How about when we exercise, is it possible to make a profit? How can we justify taking time out of our busy day to somehow fit in an exercise or workout session? How can we also justify the energy expense when we are already tired and stressed from our hectic lifestyles? We might wonder is there something more profitable we could be doing with our time.

When you expend energy, time and money partaking in an exercise or workout program, you do make a profit on your health and wellbeing. The big payoffs that you will reap and enjoy are that you will change and increase your life quality, increasing your health span across your lifespan. That can be broken down into three major areas. Improved physical function, psychological benefits (healthier mental state), and reduction in risk factors associated with disease. Along with these three major benefits, you will feel and look healthier, have tons of energy, be more self confident, more productive and discover a happier, joyous and fulfilling life.

No drug, surgery, doctor or health supplement of any kind can give this sort of return or profit on your outlay of time and energy. Higher quality of your life is a reward that no amount of money can buy. This investment (your commitment) that you give to your exercise program becomes even more attractive when you consider there is absolutely no down side risk. You have so much to gain and nothing to lose. This may be the ultimate investment opportunity, how much better could it get, can you ever remember getting a better offer than this?

Yet why do so many of us fail to act on this extraordinary opportunity by simply choosing to procrastinate or ignore the proven benefits of exercise? The health profits far outweigh the potential expenditure however many cannot see this. Millions of people all over the world have an exercise or workout deficiency and millions of people are dying from this deficiency. Don't let yourself be one of them.

We all really do know that exercise is good for us, however sometimes our vision gets clouded and we lose track of what is really important. What could be more important than our health? Withoutvigorous physical activity, there in no way that a person can have a high quality of health right across their lifespan.

Focus constantly on the advantages that exercise can give you. Continually confirm to yourself your decision to get strong, fit, slim and healthy. Remind yourself how great you feel when you finish your exercise sessions and focus on the fact that you are doing it for the right reasons. Say to yourself while you are exercising "I am getting stronger, fitter and slimmer every second I keep going".

Don't question yourself as to whether you really feel like doing it or not, just do it and it will become a habit. Think about how you want your life to be like in the future. Is your health going to be important to you to be able to do all the things you need and wish to do? There are many tasks or chores we do every single day that we may not like, however are necessary to live a happy and productive life and exercise might well be one of them. But focus on the bigger picture.

People often look to other people to motivate them, however the fact is that lasting motivation comes from within. You are doing something wonderful for yourself. No one else can take care of you in this way. Be your own coach and get yourself going. Exercise is better than money in the bank, make your deposits and become a millionaire.
