Charles Atlas Exercises RevealedBy Frank Sherrill

In a minute, I will give you the greatest Charles Atlas exercises, however I have a confession to make. You see as a young 12 year old boy I had a paper route. While this paper route did not create a great deal of money it did allow some small comforts, things like ice cream, comic books, and muscle magazines.

While reading one of those comic books I stumbled upon a small ad in the back for a Charles atlas dynamic tension exercise course. I wasn't a 97 pound weakling, I don't remember even weighing that much.

You see my freshman year in high school I weighed 102 pounds! The only reason I remember that is because that was the weight I wrestled at in my freshman year.

But back to the story and let me fill you in on what are the greatest Charles Atlas exercises.

That entire summer I saved every single penny from my paper route and I sent away for the Charles atlas course. As you can imagine, I eagerly awaited its arrival. Each day I would check my mailbox to see if it had arrived.

I will always remember the day it arrived. I tore the envelope opened and pulled out my very first lesson. Visions of massive muscles and no longer being picked on raced through my head. I started that very moment training.

For those of you that are not familiar with Charles atlas, he designed an exercise or workout program that used a combination of isometrics and bodyweight exercises. He also had some interesting twists to the exercises. For example, in place of just doing push ups on the floor, you would perform some of the pushups on three chairs.

By doing it this way it allowed me to go deeper in the exercise, this caused my chest muscles to respond very quickly.Well, you can imagine how happy I was.

My newfound strength and increasing muscle size allowed me to perform very well in gym class.

It's been years now since I used the Charles atlas course and while it has its place in history I've long since realised its limitations. Body weight exercises can only go so far in building size and strength. To build a strong and muscular body, you must use progressive resistance.

In other words, the limitations of the Charles atlas exercises, as in all bodyweight only exercise programs is that there is no ability to add additional resistance.

You can increase its effectiveness by using, isometric exercise equipment, resistance bands, weight vest or another person's bodyweight. Using these simple tips you will be able to perform more effective Charles atlas exercises.

Regardless of whether you want to gain maximum muscle size or lose body fat-- or both. The correct exercise equipment and nutrition (diet) program are essential.

Bruce Lee Workout - The Philosophy Behind the Bruce Lee WorkoutBy

Frank Sherrill

The Bruce Lee workout changed and evolved over the years, just as Bruce himself changed and evolved.

Bruce Lee used a combination of strength training strategies and various pieces of equipment. The mainstay of his training program consisted of isometrics, weight lifting, flexibly exercises and of course martial arts (Martial arts are systems of codified practices and traditions of training for combat) training.

The one thing that defines Bruce Lee is that he always sought to use things that would aid him in building a stronger more very strong body. He wasn't necessarily looking to build a muscle-bound physique, he was looking to increase his strength and power and apply that in his martial arts.

He felt, that using isometrics alone was not enough. A combination of resistance training and isometric exercise would provide more power and strength. He saw the strengths in each training strategy and also saw their weaknesses.

He felt that isometrics had the ability to provide raw power quickly, however they would not provide an increase muscle size, that's where resistance training came in. By using a combination of these two you increase your strength, and at the same time increase the size of the muscle.

In the Bruce Lee workout, when it came to isometric exercise, he had four suggestions:

1. Do one repetition and use only eight movements or exercises 2. Use 100% of your strength and hold for 6 to 12 seconds 3. The isometric routine shouldn't take more than 15 to 20 minutes, and don't rest too long between movements. 4. Always keep an accurate record and chart your progress.

At the end of each isometric workout,he performed, a movement called a Frog Kick. This movement was used to stretch out his lower back, work his abdominals (abs) and hip flexor's. It also was a great cool down movement
