Dog Breeders in California and Buying a PuppyBy Steve Evans

Before you visit a dog breeder do check that their puppies are sold with a guarantee, full registration if pedigree stock, up to date vaccinations and micro-chipped or tattooed. All pups should be breed for structure and sound temperament. It is also greatest that puppies are raised in family environment one litter at a time. Many will seek an AKC registered puppy, and with all their vaccination shots current.

Puppies from good breeders will hold on to them and they will not be sold until they reach at LEAST 8 weeks old.

Micro-chipping of your puppy is advisable to ensure that should your puppy get lost he will be traceable through his microchip tag. Tag fitting (insertion and activation) is offered by most vets and will be done at the agreed expense of buyer or seller according to agreement.

If you are unsure about the greatest way to go about buying a puppy, veterinary pet centers will often have adoption guides to educate you on what you need to think about before adopting a puppy.

Breeding dogs can be very time consuming when it comes to maintaining the health of the mother and puppies once they are born, and is greatest done by small breeders that love the breed and really care about the puppy and the mother.

However, in California, and elsewhere, the plethora of small breeders that exist are hard to find. One way of finding breeders is through Pet Net California. Pet Net California states that they offer a comprehensive dog breeder directory to help you select a puppy in your area.

Each breeder advert includes a telephone number, email address, and web page so that you can make contact with the breeder to view photographs of puppies for sale, inquire about prices, seek dates for upcoming litters, apply to purchase a puppy, or just find out more about the breeder and their dogs.

Breeder Web also provides a similar service. They require that all their breeders sign up to an agreement of humane breeding. They are said not to allow any dog breeder that breeds more than three types of dogs into their service, as that tends to point at breeders who focus less on the dog and more on the profit.

www.freedoglistings.comand Breeders.NET are web resources which again are active in the sunshine state for kennels, puppies, adult dogs, information and pictures. If you're searching for information from the Affenpinscher to the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon or if you want to know, say if a Yorkshire Terrier puppy is right for your family - they may be able to help you.

Whether you want puppies suitable for showing, obedience or just loyal family pets. Whether you seek puppies which are pedigreed and eligible for registration with the AKC at 1 year of age, or a non-pedigree, do take care to make sure that your puppy will be:-

1.Healthy, happy and home raised.2.Supplied with health guarantees and contracts provided. 3.From a healthy adult dog, as this leads to a healthier litter. 4.From a dog breeder that has the availability of facilities to isolate a mother and her pups from the rest of the adult dogs.

There may be more requirements which you may have, however the point is that there is scarcely a pet store than can guarantee that these requirements have been met.

Pet stores cannot tell you any personal stories about the parents of your puppy, nor can they tell you about the grandparents. Also, you cannot call pet stores to tell them stories about your puppy like its first experience with an obedience command!

We wish you well in you puppy hunt, and we hope you find like so many people with patience do; an adorable small pup which will be well behaved by nature and get along well with all dog breeds, and also any of your existing house pets.

Steve Evans writes regularly for the Dog Breeds Compendium web site, where you will find leading articles on the AKC Dog Breeds, plus general dog subjects related information, news and videos.

Choosing A Yorkshire Terrier Puppy

Having both bought and adopted a Yorkshire Terrier puppy, I want to pass on some advice to you about the potential pitfalls and to ensure that you get a suitable addition to your family or companion.

All Breeders Are Not Equal

The most important thing to check out before you even look at any puppies is the breeders that are available in your area of the world. Not all breeders are good and some are in it purely for the money. You want a breeder who has the dogs interests at heart.

Primarily, they should not be breeding every dog they have. They should be selectively breeding in the greatest qualities of their dogs and excluding the poor qualities. Any breeder who has puppies from all of the dogs in his or her pack is money orientated and will not serve yours or the dogs interests.

Secondly, if a breeder is offering you a mini or miniature Yorkshire Terrier puppy, leave immediately. There is no such thing. there is one recognised size of Yorkshire terrier and anything else is usually the runt of the litter and prone to all sorts of health and behavioural problems.

Finally do not go near a breeder prepared to separate a puppy at less than twelve weeks. They are susceptible to infection before this and should be with their mother.

CheckYour Litter

Once you have selected a quality breeder, do not jump in and select the first puppy you come across in the first litter you view. Not all puppies will suit you personally. You certainly do not want a shy, hyperactive or aggressive puppy unless you are or have access to a very well experienced trainer.

You should spend some time with each litter you look at and watch every puppy carefully. You want a puppy that is sociable with the other puppies in the letter and can stand it's ground if another puppy attempts to dominate, however you do not want an aggressive or biting dog.

Do not worry if there is not a suitable puppy in the first litter, keep trying until you get the right one for you. You may have to check a lot of different breeders and puppies, particularly if you are after a show dog.

If you stick with these simple guidelines you should get a puppy that is a lifetime companion and amazing addition to your family. Good good fortune and enjoy the search.

Finding a New Family Member, a Puppy Or Dog!By Wayne Jackson

Among all the 100's of dog breeds, live 1000's of personalities. Finding the greatest breed for you involves more than browsing the dog breeder with puppies for sale or dogs for sale ads. It involves dedicated research. Appearance certainly plays a role. But looks aren't everything. The range of behavioral attributes among dog and puppies is every bit as wide as the range of physical look attributes.

Step one. Find a good source for dog breed profile information.

Step two. Dog Breeders, once you have selected a dog or canine breed that's compatible with you and your family's personality; it's time to select a new dog or puppy. Browse puppies for sale, dogs for sale ads, Google keyword phrases like; find dogs for sale, find puppies for sale, select a dog or canine breeder. You can also do local searches for example; Colorado puppies for sale. Compile a list of selected dog breeders with your chosen puppy for sale or dog for sale. Look for those dog breeders that are passionate about their chosen breed, if the dog breeder breeds multiple breeds, this just maybe a RED flag. Most of the truly passionate dog breeders dedicate all their time and efforts to a single dog breed.

Step three. Dog Breeder List, now look for those whom place dog breed health, and temperament as a priority ontheir list. Most of these breeders will offer you a written health guarantee on all their puppies and dogs for sale. In these cases the parents of the puppies for sale have been checked for the most common dog breed specific inherent diseases. Avoid at all cost known puppy mills, puppy brokers, back yard breeders, and stores that sell multiple breeds. Why you ask, because, most pet stores buy their puppies for sale from puppy mills, puppy brokers, and back yard breeders. This type of breeders focus is on profit, with no or small regard to health, temperament. Their puppies are often in poor health, and become a massive burden with regards to medical expenses or worst, heart ache from a shorter than normal life span. They also tend to be nervous, distrustful and hard to train, and may develop behavior problems that they can never overcome, even by the most patient, loving owner.
