Eating Disorders For Dogs and Puppies

Eating Disorders For Dogs and PuppiesBy Craig McPherson

Here are the 3 signs that tell you your dog has an eating disorder. And you could be the reason they have it.

OVER EATING

Over sized dogs are generally lethargic an unhealthy. Your dog's meal size should be no bigger than the dogs head. The meal can be given once in the morning or at night. This, of course, refers to the adult dog. A morning feed will give the dog a odds to burn off any unused fats / carbohydrates.

See the Feeding section for some value added feeding and nutritional hints. Exercise should be a part of the dog's daily routine. A lot of walks and dog obedience the act of obeying; dutiful or submissive behavior with respect to another person training is good for you and your pocket.

UNDER EATING

Dogs that are too thin or do not eat well (loss of appetite or fussy eater) should be taken to the vet for a check-up. The Vet will advise you on the condition of the dog and the proper course of action to take.

SCOFFING

Dogs that scoff their food are generally doing this so that no other dog may take their food.

This may have begun when the dog was a pup in a litter and has become a learned behaviour. The pup may have always been pushed away from the teat at a young age by the other pups and had to franticly fight to get a feed.

If there are no other dogs in the family then the dog may scoff it foods because it feels that the family is a direct threat to the dog at feeding times.

So the dog consumes the food quickly so that the owner may not take pieces of food.

This is conditioned into the dog by a people continually taking foodaway from it.

The solution to this problem is to feed the dog separately well away from the other dogs.

Some large dogs can feel discomfort or end up with deformities if they continue to eat food off the ground. Bones are OK because the dog may lie down which is natural. Try putting the bowl food higher off the ground to avoid any problems.

You may also want to try and feed the dog small amounts by hand and encourage the dog to eat gently.

Also feed the dog food it does not like so much, vegetarian (:Vegetarian? There are many types of vegetarians, all of whom avoid meat and/or animal products. The strict vegan or total vegetarian diet includes only foods from plants: fruits, vegetables, legumes (dried beans and peas), grains, seeds, and nuts. The lactovegetarian diet includes plant foods plus cheese and other dairy products. The ovo-lactovegetarian (or lacto-ovovege-tarian) diet also includes eggs. Semi-vegetarians do not eat red meat but include chicken and fish with plant foods, dairy products, and eggs.) meals should slow the consumption rate down. Also try feeding bigger and tougher foods that the dog has to chew. A couple of days feeding just bones wont hurt.

Maharashtra CuisineBy Sanjay Kumar Pandey

Maharashtra is a big state of India. Its massive size has created two distinct types of cuisines in the state--the Konkani Cuisine and the Varadi Cuisine. While the former is the cuisine of the coastal Maharashtra, the latter is the cuisine of the Vidarbha region--the interiors of the state.

The main difference between the cuisines of these two regions is that Fish is consumed more in the former. Another distinction is the use of grated coconuts. Often grated coconuts are used in the state to flavour the many dishes. But while fresh coconuts are used in the coastal regions, powdered coconuts are used to flavour in the interiors for the purpose.

Otherwise there's not much difference between the cuisines of these two areas. The people of the state, on the whole, use peanuts and cashew nuts to make their food tasty which is most often cooked in the peanut oil. A variety or diversity of fish is consumed throughout the state. The Bombay Duck is the most famous fish delicacy of Maharashtra. Other types of fish consumed include Mackerel and Pomfret.

While the non vegetarians relish the many fish dishes and dishes prepared with mutton, chicken and eggs; the vegetarians enjoy a variety or diversity of vegetable dishes treated with Kala Masala (a special mixture of various types of spices). Often jaggery and tamarind are used to flavour the various vegetarian (:Vegetarian? There are many types of vegetarians, all of whom avoid meat and/or animal products. Food (Anna) is equated to the Lord Brahma in Maharashtra. Hence, much attention is paid to its preparations and the way it is served. A typical Maharashtrian meal is served in an orderly fashion. The Raw Meat & Vegetable Diet For Dogs - 10 Tips For Feeding RawBy

C. J. Burke

Over the years many veterinarians have been recommending, or at least warming to, raw food and particularly raw meat as a part of a frequent and regular diet for pets. Feeding raw restores vitality to a dog, even a sick dog, and can improve many chronic health problems.

Dogs evolved on raw food and not on the highly processed food we feed our pets today. Raw foods, meats and vegetables, contain their own supply of enzymes, which help in the digestive process. Cooked food destroys the naturally occurring enzymes and causes the human body to activate its own enzymes to break down the food.

It has been said that raw, fresh foods give life force to the animal. On processed foods the animal functions sub-optimally and is in a constant state of unwellness.

If you have any reservations about feeding raw meat to your dog then you can lightly steam or saute the meat until the redness is gone. Here are some other tips to help you feed a raw diet safely.

1. Start with small amounts and increase gradually as you would when switching your dogs diet from any other food to another. Plus a pet transitioning from all-commercial food may have a weak digestive system. 2. Start with cooked meat and then transition to raw. Chop the meat up and serve in small chunks. 3. Always make sure your source of meat and veggies is fresh and preferably organic. Try normal game range, if possible: turkey, chicken, rabbit. 4. Freeze the meat in small chunks and then thawout only the meat you will need. Keep your veggies in the crisper. 5. Don't feed raw meat if it has an odor or questionable color. 6. Never feed raw pork 7. If your pet does not eat the meat in fifteen to twenty minutes throw it out. This is not a diet you can leave around all day like kibble. 8. Don't feed the same thing every day. Constant feeding of the same food can lead to allergies. There are so many varieties of meats and vegetables that there is no need to feed your dog the same thing each day. 9. Add a good pet multi-vitamin, and mineral supplements to make sure your pet is getting the most nutritional food possible. 10. Keep it simple. The important thing is to use fresh ingredients.

Nothing works as well as fresh food that you prepare yourself. Thriving dogs consistently look better than dogs eating store-bought food and veterinarians see the healthy benefits every day. Feeding a raw diet takes a small more time however adds more "time" to your dog's life.
