Entelbucher Sennenhund dates back to the Roman times, and is an ancient dog breed. The Entelbucher Sennenhund is the smallest of the four Swiss Mountain Dogs. This breed is used by Alpine herdsmen to constrain cattle. The Entlebucher Sennenhound was alos used as companion and guard dogs. This working breed is very rare in both the United States and Europe.

Temperament

The Entlebucher Sennenhund is a very lively and impulsive breed. These dogs are very calm and collected dogs that are very brave. These dogs will not simply fall for bribes, and as a result make outstanding watchdogs. The Entlebucher is a very energetic dog that is at the same time intelligent and always eager to learn new things. This breed is very friendly and is very fond of people. Especially family and friends they are acquainted with. You will find that this breed is very observant and always tries to please their owners and families. At first these dogs were used to constrain cattle, however currently they are used more as companion dogs. These dogs are not ideal for those living in apartments, or for owners that are inactive as these dogs love to exercise. Overview

The Bullmastiff is a cross between the Bulldog and the Mastiff, and consists of 60% Mastiff and 40% Bulldog. This breed was developed in England, and these dogs go as far back as 1795. These dogs were used by gamekeepers to follow, tackle and hold poachers. Although these dogs were aggressive and frightening, they were trained not to bite the intruders. The Bullmastiff is a respected hunting guard, and is also used successfully in army and police work. The Diamond Society of South Africa has also used these dogs as watchdogs.

Temperament

Bullmastiffs are very reliable and observant guard dogs. This is a dog with a very pleasant nature, although they can be stubborn at times. In general these dogs are passive, unless they are aggravated. The Bullmastiff is a brave dog that is protective, however at the same time very affectionate. Although they are hesitant to attack, they will catch an impostor if it is required of them. Bullmastiffs are also very tolerant of children. This breed is intelligent, calm and reliable. These dogs prosper on human attention. The Bullmastiff is a particularly imposing dog and will need a firm owner.

Care

Overview The descendence of the Asian Shar-Pei can be traced back to the province of Kwung Tung. These dogs have lived in the southern provinces of China for many centuries. They used to be the dogs of peasants and helped them with the herding cattle and guarding of the family homes. In China, people refer to these dogs as fighting dogs, and in Canada and the United States they are referred to as guard dogs.

Temperament The Asian Shar-Pei is a highly intelligent, autonomous, noble and superior dog. They can be unfriendly toward strangers, however will always be very loyal toward their families. Seeing that they have a history of being herding and guard dogs, they are naturally alert and have a calm physique. This breed makes excellent family dogs, and will always be devoted toward their owners. In general they will get along well with children, especially when they have been socialised well as puppies. The Shar-Pei has a very dominant nature, and will need a firm trainer. The Shar-Pei will not be the ideal dog fir inexperienced owners.

Care The coats of the Asian Shar-Pei does not require a lot of maintenance, however should be brushed on an occasional basis to get rid of loose or dead hair.
