Exercise a Little More, a Little BetterBy Leah Higginbotham

Exercise. Ugh. Love it or hate it, most of us have a devil of a time fitting it into our schedules. Thanks to research, technology, and nature, you have practically limitless resources at your fingertips to help you find the exercise routine for you.

It used to be recommended that you exercise most days of the week for an hour block each day. Now, however, there is more research that says it doesn't make that big of a difference if you get all 60 minutes at once, or spread it out through the day. This means a load of more options and massive progress for busy people! If you have twenty minutes while your baby is napping, jump on the treadmill, or even do some vacuuming. If you're going to the mall, park in the far corner of the parking lot so you have a longer walk. If you have the option of taking the lift or the stairs, choose the stairs. If it's nice weather, walk your children to school.

Exercise doesn't have to happen in a gym to be productive and worthwhile. Why not do something you enjoy? If you hate being stuck inside on a treadmill or elliptical machine, take a brisk walk through your neighborhood or up a trail. It can be harder to monitor exact distance, incline, and calories burned, however the most important thing is that you're doing it. If you love to keep track of your statistics, you still can! Pedometers can help you count your steps, and there are a seemingly endless amount of health websites out there that will help you calculate how many calories you burned. You can even use an on-line map service to enter in your address and destinationof your walk, and it can calculate the mileage for you.

So let's say you have the time and resources to exercise, however you just hate it. What are your options? Here are some suggestions that can help:

Get a buddy. People are much more likely to follow through on their goals if they have someone to report to and have fun with.

Listen to music or books on tape. It will make the minutes tick by a small faster.

Join a website or weight management program. Again, accountability helps.

Reward yourself! Whether you're dying for a new pair of shoes or want to take a vacation, keep track of your exercise progress and give yourself kudos when you meet your goals. If you exercise every day during the week, go out to the movies that weekend. For larger or more expensive rewards, try this: every time you exercise, stash five dollars into a coffee can. This will help you save consistently, exercise regularly, and know that you get to spend the money on something fun--not on bills!

Don't worry if you don't stick to a perfect schedule and start dropping pounds like crazy. No matter what level of activity you're at or where you want to get, just try to do a small bit better than you've been doing, and the results will come.

3 Tips to Fit Exercise Into Your Busy DayBy B.L. Hill

It seems our lives are becoming more hectic every day and it is getting harder and harder to find the time to do the things we want to do for ourselves. We often find getting enough exercise to keep you healthy and energized is very difficult. Well, there are ways that you can fit exercise into your busy day.

1. Consider setting your alarm 30 minutes earlier in the morning to give you time for a 20 minute workout. This does not have to be everyday. If you did this 3 days a week you can get an hour of exercise time in that you did not have before. Exercising in the morning before you day gets going is often easier as you are not yet caught up in all that you have to do that day. You can do yoga or exercise to one of those tapes or DVDs you bought however can't find the time to use.

2. If your day includes business luncheons and dinners, consider if it might be more effective and better time management to do some of this business on the phone. Do you really need the hour and half for the dinner meeting to conduct this business? Can it be done in an hour instead? Use this 'extra' time to do some physical activity, even if it is just a brisk 30 minute walk.

3. Exercise while at work. There are several things you can do while seated at your desk to get some exercise in while working. One example is to keep some small weights in your desk and use them while on the phone, especially if you think it is going to be a long call. Take the stairs in place of the elevator. If you work on the 75th floor, take the lift up to the 70th floor and walk up the last 5 floors.

Use these tips as a starting point and be on the lookout for more spots in your day where you can fit in a small exercise. You don't have to go all out for 45 minutes to reap the advantages of exercise. Short exercises done throughout the day add up and don't seem like such a daunting task.

5 Tips to Help Squeeze Exercise Into Your Busy ScheduleBy Nate Atkins

Not having enough time in the day is probably one of the biggest excuses or reasons out there, when it comes to exercise. People, who are trying to lose weight, or improve their overall health, state that they would love to be able to fit exercise into their day, however they just simply do not have the time. Well it's time for you to stop making excuses, and start getting creative and thinking of ways that you could fit exercise into your hectic schedule. I have come up with 5 different ways to squeeze exercises into your everyday life.

1. Walk in place of Driving when possible. If you need to take a quick run to the supermarket, or down to the corner store and you decide to drive the 5 min in place of walking you're losing out on a perfect opportunity to burn off some of those extra calories.

2. Exercise while watching television At some point during the day we all sit down and watch a few of hours of television, why not get a stationary bike, or treadmill, and do just 30 min of exercise while watching your favorite shows. This is great because you are exercising and your shows will distract you so you won't even notice the time go by.

3. Take the stairs in place of the elevator If you work at a building that has an elevator, in place of using it head for the stairs. This will give you a great bit of exercise especially first thing in the morning.

4. Use your break times to walk around As soon as a breakhits, we're off to the break room to sit down and read the paper. If your looking to squeeze some exercise into your day you can simply use these break times to walk around the office, or go outside and walk around the block.

5. Workout to an exercise or workout video A lot of people work all day and then by the time they get home are so wiped out that they no longer have the motivation to exercise. You can change this by simply waking up 10-15 min earlier in the day, slipping an aerobics/exercise tape/CD into the player and jump starting your morning with a good 15 min of medium intensity exercise.

These are just a few of the ideas that will help to add a small more exercise into your day to help melt off that fat. Just remember that where there is a will there is a way. Sometimes adding exercise into our schedules will require a small bit of sacrifice, however it should be nothing you're not already used to by now.
