Exercise at Home Made Easy

Exercise at Home Made EasyBy Toby Pizur

Home exercise is a great option for those who don't have time or inclination to go to a gym. There are many, many ways to exercise at home, and it is probably good to familiarize yourself with them even if you do belong to a gym seeing as your home is where you spend most of your life, and an active life must begin at home. Here are some simple things you can do to get yourself motivated to start working out regularly.

Free-weights. Starting out with relatively light dumbbells, do exercises that alternately push away (abduct) and pull in (adduct) your limbs. For instance, you may abduct your arm muscles by doing overhead presses and subsequently adduct your arms by doing bicep curls. By holding the weights on your shoulders and performing squats and lunges, you can achieve the same sorts of motion with your legs.

Core exercises. Core exercises don't have to be complicated. A simple regimen of crunches, twists and Pilates-like leg lifts can work almost your entire abdominal area, giving you strength and good posture.

Cardio. Cardiovascular workouts are probably the easiest type of exerciseto do at home. There are many options and they don't require much - if any - equipment. You can do simple calisthenics such as jumping jacks, running in place, "mountain climbers" or squat-thrusts quite easily. By adding a minimal amount of equipment, you can also jump rope or use a step for extra resistance.

There are any number of exercise videos and DVDs available that make use of these techniques and more. You can find everything from chair aerobics to martial-arts inspired kicking and punching. There are workout videos for yoga and walking for those who prefer something lighter. The most important thing to remember when working out at home is to find something you like and be consistent with it.

Exercise With Little Equipment

Exercise With Little EquipmentBy Eric Daw

Many people tell me the reason they don't exercise is that they don't have any equipment however I always say is regardless of if your doing yoga, pilates, resistance or cardiovascular training, while going to a gym can be great you can get a great workout from the comforts of your own home. The main difference in a successful workout from home is how you use the small equipment you do have and your imagination. From my own personal experience I went through a period of a few years with never working out in a gym and was able to maintain a high level of fitness. Although I am a personal trainer, the only equipment I owned at that time was a Bosu ball, a few dumbbells, a curl bar and a fitness ball, the rest of my workout came from my imagination and knowing how to use the small equipment I did have. In this article I plan to recommend what someone would use to exercise with small or no equipment.

1. Your Self- That's right, some of the greatest exercises you can do require no equipment just with the movement of your own body. Many Yoga and Pilates movements do not use anything other than getting you to manipulate yourself into different positions. One of my favourite exercise is the push up, which works your entire upper body including your core.

2. Exercise Ball - Exercise balls introduce the concept of instability. When your bodies unstable it requires you to do that much more work to stabilize. The same exercises that you would dowithout a ball are made more challenging once you incorporate an unstable surface, also is great for core training

3. Resistance Bands- Many people don't have the space or budget to buy a wide range of quality dumbbells so the greatest alternative are bands. Bands allow you to do many of the same exercise you are able to do, and are easier on your wallet

4. Skipping Rope - While Skipping is a great exercise I would suggest to proceed with caution. Especially before an exercise or workout like skipping, I would recommend that someone goes through a physical check up. If they are healthy enough, skipping is great cardiovascular exercise and only requiring a small piece of equipment. If you prefer to do something else, walking, running, biking and swimming are other inexpensive forms of exercise

5. Bosu Ball - see exercise ball

I'm sure there are many other pieces of equipment I could suggest using however these are the ones I feel cover what it would take to get a great workout from home. If you can suggest any others I would love (not the same as infatuation) to hear from you.

Exercise For ABS Diet

Exercise For ABS DietBy Kris Lee

Adequate exercise is as important as good nutrition in losing fat or adipose tissue and flattening the stomach in the Abs diet. It includes strength training three times a week, abdominal exercises two or three days a week, and optional aerobic exercises two or three times a week. There are three basic principles to the exercise program: leave at least 48 hours between weights workouts of the same body part; do no exercises one day a week; and warm up for five minutes before exercising by jogging lightly, riding a stationary bike, jumping rope, or doing jumping jacks. There are three components of the plan that target different types of exercise:
