Exercises For Muscle Contraction

Exercises For Muscle ContractionBy Johan Knutsson

Muscle contraction is a sudden pull when there is a generation of stress on the fibre muscle because of the actin and myosin changing across each other. Muscle can increase in length, become stronger or just keep like before because of the stress in the muscle fibers. Muscle contraction, occurs because of the change in the length caused by the stress on the muscle fibers. The central nervous system controls the muscle contraction, and the movement of a person is possible only through the contraction of muscle. The brain and the spinal cord is the main medium that controls the muscle contraction.

The brain controls all the voluntary reflexes of the muscles and the spinal cords stimulates and controls the involuntary movements and reflexes. There are four kinds of muscle contractions, concentric, eccentric, isometric and passive contraction. Concentric contraction occurs when the weight of work is more than the strain on the muscle and the stress is less then there is the shortening of the muscle, this kind of contraction is called a concentric contraction. So is the case of the other three contractions, with individual changes and a change in the reflexes. So, muscle contraction is the basic action for various physical activities.

There are many exercises for the muscle contractions. For example, the pelvic muscle exercise, this kind of exercise helps in the muscle contraction of the urethra; this exercise helps the pubococcygeus muscle. The loss of strength in this muscle is due to various reasons, the important one being the process of childbirth. The procedure of the exercise for the pelvic muscle is to relax and then tighten the process, however keeping in mind that gap should be there within certain durations. The exercises can be done through various means and methods, by sitting, standing or by lying down. Through the sitting posture a person should sit straight without hunching, keeping the legs apart and the feet flat on the ground. While doing the exercise standing, a person should stand keeping the knees bent small bit and the feet kept apart. And while sleeping the exercise can be done by sleeping straight, with the feet bent and spread apart.

Doing lifting exercises are also beneficial for muscle contraction. A person can do it by lifting something on top of the head, by resting straight on the floor, by doing squats, by doing exercises like crunches, sit ups, swinging the arms and putting stress on the stretch mode of exercises.

Other kinds of exercises for muscle contractions are walking, running, jumping and other such vigorous exercises. Doing aerobics and exercising by using weights are also good for the muscle contractions. Weightlifting is also a beneficiary exercise for muscle contraction.

Doing exercises without the movement of the body, for example pushing the hands against the wall, putting stress on the hands, is a good for the muscle contraction. Doing stretch exercises especially and particulary concentrating on the joints is beneficial for the muscle contractions.

By doing and following the above exercises regularly, stimulates the muscle contraction and helps in the proper movement of the limbs.

Bruce Lee Training and WorkoutsBy Frank Sherrill

Why do most people believe that Bruce Lee training and workouts are shrouded in secrecy or are some kind of mystery?

It's no secret that Bruce Lee training and workouts used a combination of weight lifting and isometrics to produce his incredible physique, power and strength. And it's no secret that he had to stop using free weights, because of a back injury due to performing an exercise or workout called Good Mornings.

Bruce Lee also used a combination of body weight exercises and a device called the Tensolator. But in reality it was a combination of isometrics and isotonic's that yielded the greatest results.

Why use isometrics in the Bruce Lee training and workouts, even though all the newspapers and magazines of that day were saying that the results achieved through isometric exercise were not true, because it was discovered that the users were taking steroids?

Bruce Lee was no dope, he did his research, however he was influenced by Bob Hoffman. Hoffman, who owned the York Barbell Company and was the coach of the United States Olympic weightlifting team was a big proponent of isometric training. What swung Bruce Lee over was Hoffman's position that strength was the most important quality in any sport or physical endeavor.

More strength, he reasoned, and the ability to effectively control that strength by practicing your sport would make it possible for the individual with more strength to outperform his competitor.

Bruce Lee knew this to be true. When two equally skilled individuals are matched up, the stronger of the two will always win!

Many people when they first hear about isometrics wonder how an exercise or workout with no movement could produce results. Let's take for example, a bicep curl. It takes about 2 seconds to curl the bar from your thigh to chin level. The hardest part of the exercises is not at the beginning or at the end however in the middle. Thisis where gravity or leverage causes the greatest difficulty, and the greatest muscle growth.

Unfortunately, the muscles are only in this position for a fraction of the second. With isometric contraction, the muscle would be held in this position for 10 to 12 seconds. So in theory, one isometric contraction would build as much muscle as 12 repetitions performed in the traditional way.

Bruce Lee felt that you needed to give 100% effort, to the isometric contraction, in place of the 60 or 70% that Drs. Hittinger and Muller in their 1950s report on isometrics concluded. Later on, the doctors realised that a 100%, isometric contraction held for just about one second yielded the same results. That was just one of the strengths, of the Bruce Lee training and workouts.
